The Community We Serve
TECHYON’s objectives are to advance the education of the public in all aspects of the peoples and societies of Black African descendants through the promotion and celebration of their identity, cultures, and lifestyles.
Our primary focus and services are to the black people of African and African-Caribbean descendants living in the Greater and Central London region while networking with other Black support companies, organisations, and institutions across the UK.
TECHYON was created to highlight that we are not living in a post-racial society either at the nation-state or civil society levels, and there is still a vast lack of authentic black-owned businesses, organisations, and institutions in the technology and media sector with the capacity to change perception to the UK’s civil society.
Perception is important in empowering changes in civil society and in developing confidence, stability and pride in individuals from black minority backgrounds. We want to create spaces in the technology, theatre and film industries for black people. To create products and services that authentically identify with the black community, allowing for the upliftment of individuals within the sectors, as well as the larger community.
We want blacks and other minorities to become part of a greater civil society where they are recognised for who they are and the value and cultural mix they can contribute to the UK’s wider society and today’s global villages by empowering our community with genuine opportunities with financial, products and services support.
We believe by providing these products and services, individuals and communities leaders will seek to assert their rights in a manner that can challenge those in authority to bring positive changes to local communities by facilitating better facilities.
With the knowledge and experience gained in our workspaces and programmes, they will be able to manage and provide alternative methods for supporting and maintaining the facilities available to them in the voluntary and community sectors.
