Why we Exist
TECHYON was created to highlight that we are not living in a post-racial society either at the nation-state or civil society levels, and there is still a vast lack of authentic Black-owned businesses, organisations, and institutions in the technology and media sector with the capability to change perception to the UK’s civil society.
Our Preception
Perception is important in empowering changes in civil societies and in developing confidence, stability, and pride in individuals from black minority backgrounds.
We want to create spaces in the technologies, theatres, and film industries where blacks can create products and services that can authentically identify with the black community, enabling the upliftment of individuals within the sectors and wider community.
Our Aims
We want blacks and other minorities to become part of a greater civil society where they are recognised for who they are and the value and cultural mix they can contribute to the UK’s wider society and today’s global villages by empowering our community with genuine opportunities with financial, products and services support.
We believe by providing these products and services, individuals and community leaders will seek to assert their rights in a manner that can challenge those in authority to bring positive changes to local communities by facilitating better facilities.
With the knowledge and experience gained in our workspaces and programmes, they will be able to manage and provide alternative methods for supporting and maintaining the facilities available to them in the voluntary and community sectors
